Grainger Outstanding Power Engineering Student Awards

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with the generous support of the Grainger Foundation, is continuing a major award program for students who earn undergraduate or graduate degrees with a specialization in the field of electric power engineering.

The Department has one of the finest electric power engineering programs in the world, with major teaching and research activities in electric power systems, electromechanics, machines, and power electronics. These awards were created to recognize highly qualified and well-motivated students in these areas.

Twenty awards of $5,000 each were presented in Spring 1997-2000. Twenty-five awards of $6,000 each were presented beginning in Spring 2001.  A new set of awards (up to twenty-five) of $6,000 each is given each Spring. Students who complete their BS, MS, or Ph.D. degrees between December of the preceding year and October of the current year are eligible for consideration in the annual round if they satisfy the eligibility requirements of the award program and agree to participate in a technical meeting and an awards ceremony. Information on these requirements may be obtained from the Power Area in room 335 Everitt Laboratory, or from this web site.
